Far too many people love to overcomplicate things. When it comes to eating healthy, I find that the best way is to keep things simple. What you want is something SUSTAINABLE. A routine. A lifestyle. One that you’ll be able to repeat every single day. Here are 8 rules that may help you get closer to that ideal.
1. DIETS ARE DEAD
Diets inherently have an expiration date and most people are just starving themselves in the short term. They don’t work. Simply avoid the bad stuff: seed oils, conventional soy, artificial dyes, refined grain... and build your meals around quality meat. Prepare & activate nuts, grains properly. Cook vegetables the right way. Drink milk. Sip on broth. What you can then choose to engage in is specific protocols that align with your goals for that season. I really like this approach
has with his “fruit till noon” shred protocol that recently went viral.2. EAT NOSE TO TAIL
We were never meant to survive on lean chicken breast and steak all day. Your body craves a complete micronutrient profile and you’ll only get that by eating nose to tail. Don’t be afraid to try some liver. Have chicken hearts for dinner. Be adventurous. Buy gelatinous cuts.
3. INCLUDE SEAFOOD
Most people aren’t eating enough seafood. They think they can reduce it all down to an omega 3 supplement and they’ve never been more wrong. Your body needs real seafood. Cod liver (especially during winter). Wild-caught fish. Sardines. Oyster Sundays. It’s so crucial.
4. SNACK LIKE A KING
It’s never been easier to snack well. There are so many brands using high quality ingredients, so you really have no excuse to be binging on seed oils. Snacking is OK as long as you snack on healthy food. Dates. Tallow chips. Dark chocolate. Raw honey.
5. BE HYDRATED
You need to be hydrating yourself well. And I don’t mean to drown yourself in gallon after gallon of water. You want water that’s free of toxins like sodium fluoride and chlorine. You want it rich in electrolytes. Properly Mineralized.
6. STOP WORRYING
One unfortunate consequence of being on this side of the Internet is that you tend to worry a lot. You need to understand that stress (especially from mindless worrying) is extremely unhealthy. Learn to let go. Control what you can, and have faith. Worrying is a bad habit.
7. HAVE FUN COOKING
One of the BEST ways to start taking your health in your own hands is to genuinely have fun in the kitchen. Learn new recipes. Be present when you cook. Lose yourself in the Art of it all. Sometimes, it’s almost meditative. Food cooked with love is divine.
8. INPUTS > OUTPUTS
Sure, you can have goals. But goals are just targets, or milestones as I like to call them. Plan for inputs, aka things you can actually do!
> I’ll go for a sunrise run 3x a week
> I’ll exercise creative agency 7x a week
> I’ll prepare my work meals on Sunday
What else would you add?
Also, there’s no reason for you to wait until January 1st to do whatever it is you’ve been putting off. You can simply just do it today. Right now, in this very moment.
The greatest painting
The world around you is gorgeous. If you’re feeling stressed, look up. Sometimes we forget that we’re living in the greatest painting to ever exist.
Real bread is superior
Pre-sliced white bread is in my opinion COMPLETELY different to fresh sourdough from your local bakery. Real bread >
For the creative
These are some of the foods I have on rotation that always seem to grant me the best ideas. Food is fuel. What else would you add?
We need a name
What should we call this aesthetic?
